@mikeor - In v5, you can write them by placing a dot on the top-most note head of an existing or new note/chord, just to the right of it. You only have to specify one dot to make the entire chord dotted. Next, tap on the bar to convert the dot into the formatted notation. - In v6, writing them is similar to the above, but you can place the dot anywhere vertically to the right of a note/chord, and it will typically be recognized without having to tap to convert.
