Importing on Ipad

Is there any way to import files (pdf, xml etc.) from a url or any other means into the app on an Ipad without the use of a desktop?

    So far, the other option is to simply email the file(s) as an attachment and open them using Symphony Pro through the Mail app. What other methods of import are you considering? We're currently exploring Dropbox and iCloud to accommodate new technologies.
