You want to put a tempo (note=) into your project.

Latest Os, iPad 3.

    if you choose the 'quarter note=' symbol. I hope someone understand this. hard to explain.

    I just experienced a crash as well, while entering a melody line with the on-screen keyboard. I can't say exactly what I did to replicate the crash--but I was only entering notes.

    I also was unable to import MusicXML files into the app.

    I don't want to be negative, but there are still a lot of bugs to address.
