Can't select first tied note in SP5

Starting in SP5, when you select a note it also selects any subsequent tied notes. This is a good thing when you want to change the pitch of the tied group. But often I need to change the duration of just the first note -  it seems this is no longer possible without temporarily removing the tie, which is especially time-consuming when it's a chord. Can you please provide some way of selecting just the first note in a tie group, perhaps using a repeated tap or long press? Alternatively, perhaps a note duration change should only affect the first note of a selected tie group: currently this seems to always remove all but the first note!
