Question on a simple classical piano bass line

In a piece written in A minor, my bass line runs as A, E, C, A. The firat A is held for for 4 beats and the others are crotchets. When i configure the first A as a semibreve, i find that the the next crotchet notes jump to the next bar. How do i fix this?

    You need to use voices, or layers. They are described in the help files, Tracks and Voices.

    Enter the first A, the semibreve, in voice one. Switch to voice two, and enter the crochets. If the first crotchet is on beat two, enter a rest on beat one.
